SDI Application Support & Guidance

Clear, Non-Medical Guidance Through the California SDI Process

SDI Advisor LLC provides education and administrative guidance to Californians who are exploring whether State Disability Insurance (SDI) may be an option for them.

Navigating SDI can feel confusing, especially when mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, or burnout make everyday tasks harder. Our role is to help you understand the process, avoid common mistakes, and stay organized, while licensed medical or mental health professionals make all medical decisions.

Important: SDI Advisor is not a medical or psychological practice. We do not diagnose conditions, provide medical opinions, or influence clinical decisions. Medical eligibility is determined solely by licensed professionals and the State of California.

Who We Help

We work with California residents who want to:

  • Understand how California SDI works
  • Learn what the application process involves
  • Avoid delays caused by missing or incorrect paperwork
  • Get clarity on next steps without pressure or guarantees

Many of the people we speak with are experiencing mental health challenges, but having symptoms or a diagnosis does not guarantee SDI approval. Every claim is evaluated individually by a licensed clinician and the California Employment Development Department (EDD).

What We Do (and What We Don’t)

What We Do

✔ Explain how the SDI application process works in California

✔ Help you understand eligibility requirements at a high level

✔ Assist with organizing and submitting non-medical portions of the application

✔ Help track deadlines and respond to EDD requests

✔ Provide administrative coordination and general process support

What We Don’t Do

✔ Diagnose or treat any medical or mental health condition

✔ Assess symptom severity or determine medical eligibility

✔ Advise on what to say to a doctor or how to describe symptoms

✔ Influence clinical opinions, certifications, or documentation

✔ Communicate medical information to EDD on your behalf

How the Process Works

Step 1: Informational Call

📞 We start with an informational conversation to explain:

✔ How SDI works.

✔ What eligibility generally depends on.

✔ What the application process looks like.

✔ What role licensed clinicians and EDD play.

This call is administrative and educational only. No medical advice is provided.

Step 2: Understanding Medical Certification

🏥 If you choose to apply for SDI, medical certification must come directly from a licensed medical or mental health professional.

Some clients already have a treating provider. Others may choose to seek care independently.

If requested, we can share general information about how to find licensed providers, but all clinical relationships are independent and chosen by the client.

Step 3: Application Organization & Submission Support

📝 We help you:

✔ Understand which forms are required

✔ Avoid common filing errors

✔ Submit non-medical portions accurately

✔ Stay on top of follow-up requests from EDD

Our goal here is process clarity and organization, not outcomes.

Step 4: Claim Status & Administrative Follow-Up

📂 After submission, we can help you:

✔ Track claim status

✔ Understand notices or requests from EDD

✔ Stay organized with deadlines and documentation

We do not influence review timelines or claim decisions.

Step 5: If There Is a Delay or Denial

⚖️ If a claim is delayed or denied, we help explain:

✔ What the notice means

✔ What options may exist

✔ What steps are typically required next

Any appeals or medical updates must be handled directly by the claimant and their licensed provider.

Fees & Transparency

💰 There is no upfront cost to speak with us.

Fees, if any, relate only to administrative guidance and support provided and are not tied to diagnoses, treatment decisions, or medical certifications. SDI approval is never guaranteed.
